VoIP - Voice Over IP - telephony service done over the internet:
SIP - (Session Initiation Protoco) the common and most know standard for VoIP telephony.
IP Phone - Telephone that transfer the voice over Internet Protocol both on the local network or Internet.
ATA - Analog Termination Adapter - A device that connect to the internet/network and provide port to connect to analog phone FXS.
FXS - Foreign Exchange Station - this is usually the port to connect to Analog phone extension or termination. in most cased RJ11 connector. when you connect to this port you will hear dial tone when you pick up the phone.
FXO - Foreign Exchange Office - To this port you connect the line that come from your local phone service in some cases from your ATA device or another PBX.
